Massage Therapy

Massage is the rubbing, pressing, kneading and manipulating of muscles and joints of the body with the hands, especially to relieve tension or pain. Massage therapists typically use their hands and fingers for massage, but may also use their forearms and elbows. Massage may range from light stroking to deep pressure.
Massage has been found to improve circulation, joint range-of-motion and flexibility. It can reduce many common ailments such as stress, muscle tightness, aches, and pains - even anxiety and depression.
Generally considered part of alternative medicine, it's increasingly being offered along with standard treatment for a wide range of medical conditions and situations such as:
  • Digestive disorders
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headaches
  • Insomnia related to stress
  • Myofascial pain syndrome
  • Paresthesias and nerve pain
  • Soft tissue strains or injuries
  • Sports injuries
  • Temporomandibular joint pain
